What's the best way to market a yard sale? I'm starting school in January and I have some things that I want to sale. A desktop computer(paid $500) and a Proform treadmill(paid $600). Also a couple of televisions, manga, storage containers, DVDs, and stools. What is the best way to market these things. I really just want to sell the treadmill. How much is a reasonable price to sale it for? Come January, it will be a year old. I was thinking of making flyers and posting them around or either putting it in the paper. I live in a small, but growing, town so I don't know if they will bite.
How can I safely prepare my computer for sale? My fiancee wants to get a laptop, so to come up with the money we are going to sell the Desktop she bought a couple years ago. Problem is, she has no idea where the install CDs are. I want to make sure we wipe the thing clean before selling it, but not sure how we can do this without making the computer useless. Any and all help is very appreciated.
How do I transfer Powerpoint from one computer I own to another (desktop to laptop)? I use my laptop almost exclusively, but it never had Microsoft Powerpoint software. My new (used, rmmage sale find) desktop has Can I click and drag/drop or copy the entire file onto a CD/drive, will it then copy so I can just move it then from Explorer onto my laptop, into a file and run it? (It's not gonna be that I easy, I can tell right now.....)
What kind of desktop computer should my father-in-law buy? Can anyone make a suggestion about this? My father-in-law only does chat, email, some internet surfing, listens to CDs, and uses the basic Windows office suite to do stuff like use excel to keep track of his assets. I think he may not like windows Vista if the change in interface is too dramatic, but there may not be any solution to that. He wants to spend like 350 to no more than 500 dollars. Is this even possible? Should he get a refurbished computer, and if so, what kind? (not a mac -- that wouldn't work for him). Are there any good sales or promotions that anyone knows of (am also checking cnet and dealnews)? He doesn't need a printer, I don't think. We are getting him DSL, so I guess he needs an ethernet card (right?). Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Which is better: upgrading your computer or getting a new one if the old one is more than 5 years old? Bought my Dell in 2001. Put in a new Lightscribe DVD burner b/c I flashed the original and messed it up apparently. Computer is running very slow...takes a long time to start up and takes a while for a program to load, especially the internet. Has Intel Celeron processor, 797 Mhz, and 348 MB of RAM. The thing is I saw a desktop computer on sale at Walmart for $600. It has 3.0 GHz Processor, 1,024 MB Memory. Upgrade or Get a new one.
Should I sale my desktop and buy new one? I have $230Pentium D computer, with winXP which I have to pay lot for electricity. I cant sale this for $120, and I can get $410 for Core 2duo Win 7 computer. $410 is cheap for computer, but 410 is big. Should I keep it, or sell and buy new one?
Sale price for old computer? Okay-- i'll try this again. If you were to garage sale a Dell Dimension 4600 Desktop computer from 2004 (maybe someone would want the parts, monitor, keyboard, idk?), then how much would you ask? It has a DVD and CD drive-- but it is in need of some repairs to get it in good working condition. It is your regular run of the mill desktop, purchase price was $1000, but I know the prices are much lower now. I also have a really great printer/copier/scanner-- HP psc 2110 all in one to sell. It works fine. If you have any suggestions, thanks!

How do I reset a Windows XP password or restore the computer all-together? I bought a new desktop computer at a yard sale during thanksgiving when I was visiting my mother in a different state, now I'm back home and it's password protected. I can log in as administrator in safe mode, but I still don't have access to any of the other user accounts in the control panel. So I can't delete them. I don't mind all the files being deleted since they weren't mine anyway.. so what do I do?
Have u bought a computer during last year's thanksgiving sale? right now there is this desktop computer i really like (around $900 at an online store and my budget is tight) but i don't know if i should wait for the thanksgiving sale. is it worth waiting for it? did you buy your computer at a store or online? did the sale give you a lot of discount?

I've searched Dell and PC World but I.m a sucker for a determined sales pitch. So does anyone have any advice? I know the speed and memory but the overall decision is more difficult., and I need Printer, Router etc as a package. Thanks

How Do I Connect My New Desktop Computer To The Internet? My main desktop computer has Verizon internet. I want to set up a wireless internet area in my house. I have a router that I bought at a garage sale, I'm very sure that it works, but I may need more cables for it. It is a Westell Versalink Model 327W. I tried replacing my verizon modem with the router, but the internet light on the router won't come on and nothing on my computer will connect to the internet. I wonder if I can change some settings to fix this problem? I also want to know exactly what I need to buy for my new computer to pick up the wireless signals (I don't have the hardware to do this on the computer yet, is there something that I can plug into a USB port or something?) And I also want to know how to name my wireless zone and set a password for it. I can buy the supplies that I need to make this happen, and I may consider a wired connection if that would be better since the computers aren't far from each other. I've heard that the router I bought has a lot of problems, so if anyone can tell me another model I can buy at a decent price I will do that. Ask if you need any more details. Both computers are running Windows XP, but my new computer is stuck with service pack 1 (I think that's what it's called)
Can a private party computer sale be returned? Thanksgiving 2007, I sold a dell desktop pc to my friend with all software installed (microsoft office 2007 and xtra) along w/monitors and some upgrade hardware inside. 3 months later video card malfunctioned and dell rep adv her to wipe out hard drive, thus loosing all programs. at time of sale , i gave her factory back up disc and all programs loaded for her to use, minus the microsoft office disc, cause my friend got a copy (not legit) and install on my computer for me to use. Due to the problem she been having with the video card and after loosing all program and not having a MS office 2007 disc (again, no written or verbal promise of it, but the copy installed was not legit). She now request money back and adv her family attorney say she has 2 years to claim refund at small claims court. Question is, can she do that at a private party sale and there were not written nor verbal agreement? By the way, I am located in Los Angeles, California. additional, she knew computer was used, it came with 8 months full dell warranty and video card had life time warranty. MS office 2007 was installed, but I did not tell her it was legit or not legit, it was just on the computer, nobody ever ask these question, so I did not tell her, (was not even on my mind) PS: if she choose to go to small claims court, and for whatever reason, judge rules in her favor, besides the computer cost, would I be liable for any of the court or attorney fee?
Why did laptops out sale desktops all of a sudden? Me being a owner of both, several desktops and one really great laptop. I personally find desktops still the superior computer and almost as versatile (lets face it laptops always win in the mobile categories.). However I has just occured to me....Could laptops be saling so well today because eveyone already owns a desktop, or is it that laptops are a fad. What ever it is, laptops cost the same today as they always has.
What is the fastest desktop and laptop on the market today? Let's assume that money is no object and you could order the highest specs on every computer. What would be the fastest desktop and laptop for sale on the marker today for consumers? Who would make those computers? Or is it something you have to build on your own?

What do I do when I get in line for a black friday sale item that's in limited stock? Say if i'm one of the first few people there. Do I need to tell the people what i want so i get it reserved or something? i think last year at my circuit city they had like certificates to get the cheap desktop computer. can someone who has experience with this tell me? thanks i never bother to change the category...i just type my question and leave the first category selected
Would it be cheaper to build my own computer or to just buy one? Need a desktop that will be powerful enough to play some current video games; it doesn't necessarily need to be top of the line though. Would it be cheaper to build my own computer (maybe wait for sales for each individual piece) or to wait for a sale on a desktop (perhaps a cheap Dell)(maybe buy the cheapest Dell and upgrade some parts such as the video card)?
HP Pavilion p6243w-b Desktop Computer? It's going to be for sale at wal mart on black friday, and i want to buy one. But i heard that HP wasnt a very good brand (at least with their laptops). So is this version of Pavilion any good?
I am going to sell my computer this week... what should be included/what should the prices be? Ok, this Sunday at a local garage sale, I am going to sell my compaq Desktop Computer. With it I am including all the necessary Equipment needed to run the computer, mouse, keyboard, etc. The computer is about 4 years old, and is discontinued. I do have XP, with the recovery discs. I removed the old CD drive and replaced it with a new DVD drive, I installed a new wireless internet adapter, and increased the memory. What do you think would be a good price for the computer, and what else should I do to prepare the computer for sale? I can also install Vista for an extra $30 dollars, does that sound fair? I am also going to sell name brand Altec Lancing speaker with Subwoofer, how much should those cost? Thanks for all the answers
Need tips on preparing my computer for sale.? I am selling my old desktop to the neighbour who is computer illiterate and wants to start off with a secondhand computer to learn from. I am not wiping the hard drive, as I don't have the skills or the Windows XP CD, Word, or other software I have bought, to reload onto it, So basically I have deleted my personal documents and uninstalled some programs that she wont need. I have left a heap of games, music and funny video clips on there for her to enjoy. My question is what else should I do. How do i check thoroughly for documents or photos that are hidden on the hard drive? What else can I do to remove my "finger prints", eg browsing history, and so on.
Can I store my music from my computer on an external storage drive/USB? Hey, I have a whole library of music on my computer that I don't want clogging up my hard drive. I've seen those little USB drive things for sale (anywhere from 256 mb up to 1 gb or 2 gb), and I was wondering, could I fit my music on one of these and still be able to access it later? I'm a novice computer user so I have no clue what the best solution would be for me. I don't want to delete my music or just burn it all to cds, so I was hoping this might be a good alternative. What do you think? Oh, and do I need a specific brand or anything to work with my computer? I have an HP a1110n computer (a desktop with a flat panel monitor). Does that information matter when going to buy one of these storages drives? Thanks. Okay, so if I save my music to dvd, can I delete them from my computer? Or should I get an external hard drive, load them to that, save them to dvd, and then delete them? Just trying to figure out what to do first. Thanks.
Should i buy a new desktop computer or should i save my money ? I got this 8 year old desktop dell computer and it works pretty good, before it ran slow because i ran internet explorer which has a lot of bugs and then i switched to mozilla firefox and now it runs faster. It has windows xp home edition and it has 1 GB of ram. I wanted to get a new computer on the after thanksgiving sale but my parents suggested that i save my money up. Do you think i should save my money if my money if my computer works good ?

I need a Desktop Computer, But the on line Dell Precision 690 Mini-Tower w Dual Core costs a whopping $4500? Any suggestions for a high quality computer that is reliable with North American Tech support The rep told me that the Precision is more expensive than the Vostro, because it's components are of higher quality. (Is that true) This $4500 Precision 690 comes with Xeon Processor 5130 with 2 Gz, 4MB L2 Cache 1333Mhz Memory 4GB, DDRE ECC SDRAM Memory 667Mhz, 4 X 1 GB and 2 Hard drives, RAID 1 it comes with Windows XP Pro and Microsoft Office Professional and a 4 year gold warranty for N. American Based Tech support. But I do not get a hard copy of the Operating system or software. I will be using the computer for Trading Futures, and CAD drawing, Photoshop, and Illustrator and a library of photos and videos. My problem with this unit is that it costs $4500, and it seems too expensive. Plus when I speak to their phone sales reps, they can bring it down a few bucks, but cannot tell me who makes the parts, so I do not know if I am getting high quality parts. I will not be using it for Gaming.
Desktop Computer Memory upgrade? How many MB's would 533 MHz equal I'd also like to find a good cheap 512 MB memory upgrade. Does anyone know any good sales for them?
how do I get rid of the administrator account on a HP desktop? I just bought on a yard sale a nice HP desktop computer, it runs great, it has Windows XP. I would like to know if there is a way to get rid of the administrators account, so I can set the computer up for myself. When I try to change anything even logging in into the administrators account is asking me for password, which obviously I do not have. I went back to the yard sale to ask for the password, but the guy told me that a friend of his gave it to him and he has no way of getting the password, he said just take it to a computer geek and he can reset it for you, but that cost money that I do not have right now, I want to know if anyone knows how to do this and can show me, I will greatly appreciate all the help and advise. I do have access to the computer since it has another account set up but it is restricted, that is why I need to be the primary account, but for that I need to gain access to the administrator change it and reset it, but I do not know how without the password. Can anyone help? thanks Yesenia Thanks for all the advises, I do not have the XP windows cd, I have Windows Vista operating CD, will that work too on this desktop? Another thing only the computer administrator can change, delete or create an account, so I cannot do anything at all, any other suggestions, oh and where can I get the XP operating systems CD?

Where is best to place an ad for sale in Singapore? I have a brand new desktop computer (here in Singapore), which I want to sell, since I don't need it. What is the best way to do it in SIngapore? Do I have sufficient graphics/computer power to run World of Warcraft? It's an Acer desktop, and has an Intel(r) Pentium (r) Dual cpu E2180 @2.00 ghz. The graphics card on it is a Nvidia GeForce 7050/Nvidia N Force 620i. It's a new computer, bought in the last month, but the sales person wasn't 100% sure. The graphics card is integrated which they did say wasn't the best but should be able to play WoW. Thank you for your time.
Ok so there's this computer on ebay Awesome deal and no bids, Please read details...10 points for best answer!? I think the seller bought the computers in bulk and is selling them for a profit. He has 100% positive feedback from 8,000 members. I read the term for the sale and am satisfied with the computer. There is no reserve price. Here are the specs: "Up For Bid is one LIghtning Fast High End HP 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 HyperThreading Desktop Computer System with a Huge 500GB SATA Hard Drive, 3GB of RAM, a nVidia Geforce Graphics card with an astonishing 512Mb of DDR2 VRAM, a 20x Dual Layer DVD-Burner, and much, much, more!" Included is an 8500gt graphics card and the COA for windows xp. I checked the details on the cpu and it runs at 800mhz fsb 3.4 ghz with HT...which is fine for what I do, and I can always OC and/or throw in a C2D with a good mobo It is an HP. But it has zero bids so far and is at the starting price of $0.01. What happens if I win the auction...let's say for something hypothetically ridiculous, $1.00...since it has no reserve, would they have to sell it to me for the price? Also shipping is free to the continental US.....Thanks So would they be forced to sell me the item because it has no reserve price even at $1.00???

Liquidation sale? We are going to have this big 3 day liquidation sale. I heard the ad on the radio and it said that computer monitors would be $60, plasmas as low as $600, surround sound systems for $85 and a desktop computer for $199. it cost $7 to get in. i am going to go for sure. Is there any guarntee on these products that they are new, and is there any guarntee that they will work. I hear that you cant even return these things.the name of it is Aroma Senses General Merchandise Show. Any ideas?? Also, why is everything so cheap??
When is the best time to buy a laptop for college? I need a laptop before I go to college, and want to know when is the best time to buy one? (i.e. when do new models come out, when are the best sales, etc...) I might need one ASAP because my desktop computer recently died and perhaps Christmas would be my best chance to get a good deal? If it makes a difference, I'm looking at a Dell XPS M1530. I really have no interest in a Mac.
