My new compaq desktop computer - how do I wake it up? I recently bought a new compaq desktop home computer. On the keyboard it has a hibernate button with a crescent moon on it. I have a major problem with my compaq desktop windows xp computer. I have had to turn it off manually 3 x toda? I do not know what is going on with my desktop computer but the mouse keeps freezing and it will not straighten out. I have to turn the machine off manually and later start it up normally. Compaq desktop - computer won't turn on - green light on the back rapidly blinking? I've got a compaq desktop about 3 years old. I moved it from one room to another the other. Now I can't get the computer to turn on (can't get anything). The green light on the back by the powercord is blinking rapidly. In the past, I've had this problem and put a little pressure on the power cord itself and the light turned solid green and worked correctly. What is wrong with my desktop computer? Compaq....will not start up? My computer is just a couple of years old. I have virus protection. A DVD Drive for compaq desktop computer? My brother has a DVD drive and CD-R drive from his HP computer and he isn't using it. He switched those hard drives with his old computer's drives. My Compaq desktop computer wont start up!! Help? I have a Compaq SR2163WM and I went to clean out the top part of the processor because the fan started going full speed, so I thought that would help if I did that I took the fan off and cleaned the metal part above the processor... Now when I try to boot up the computer it will shut down on me. It wont even make it to the Windows Boot Screen. What happened? Is there anything I can do to fix it or did I mess up? I think it was the thermal paste, because I saw this pasty grey stuff (now im assuming the thermal paste) between the fan and CPU and ripped it off, just thinking it wasnt meant to be there? The computer will boot up for a minute or so, I got into the bios but it shut down on me. Did I fry it or is there still time to get it fixed by reapplying the thermal paste?

My Windows XP Computer (Compaq Desktop) Restarts Randomly, Help? My computer has been acting up in the past two weeks. Let me just give you a quick bit of information regarding my computer. I have a Compaq Presario Desktop (SR1625NX) w/ Windows XP Home Edition that is almost 3 years old. It has 1 GB of factory installed memory and 1 GB more of memory installed by me (this was done in August). It has a 160GB Hard Drive and I have a Linksys Wireless Card installed (it was installed by Best Buy's Geek Squad when I got the computer). If you need anymore information, just ask. Now, My computer started acting up about two weeks ago and just started randomly shutting down out of no where (the screen would all of a sudden go black, and then a few seconds later the windows XP loading thing comes up like it would when you start your computer, hence it restarting). Then when you let it start up again, and load into your account, it has a windows xp error saying "Your system has recovered from a fatal error" I tried cleaning the inside of the computer (I think I did a pretty thorough job with it) but it still restarts. I downloaded this program called SpeedFan that tells you the temps of the fans and they were between 30 and 40 degrees Celsius which I think was alright (it said it would alert you if it got too hot). I also saw somewhere where it said that restarting your internet connection helps? I did so and it didn't restart within the 40 minutes I had it on after that, then I shut down my computer myself for the night. oh yeah, and one more thing. Sometimes when it "restarts" it will cycle through the beginning sequence like 5-10 times, like once it gets to the blue screen, it blacks out again and starts over. Also, the room I keep my computer in has been the same temperature before, so I doubt that has anything to do with it. If you can help me, that would be great! :D

Why does my desktop computer's screen keep going black? I have a Compaq desktop computer and lately the screen turns black at random intervals, everything still works like the sound and whatever i had opened etc is still there but the screen is black. So every time it does this i have to turn the screen off then back on, it only takes a second but keeps happening all the time, at first i thought the wire was wrecked so i got a new one and it keeps going black. I sen my Compaq Presario desktop computer to a computer repair shop near me due to some rebooting? issues. It would start up, and as soon as it would come to windows xp, it would stop, shut off and reboot again. This would go on and on. I took it to a computer shop near my home. He looked over the computer and told me it was an issue with the motherboard, and that he needed to purchase a new one because the one that was in my computer was broken. I gave him the money for the motherboard, and after he ordered it, and everything I got the computer back and it was working fine. He told me there was a warranty on the part incase any problems would occur. A few months later, the computer started doing the same thing. I contacted him, and returned the computer to the shop. He said, once again, that he'd look over the problem and let me know. That's when all heck broke loose.... I waited and after a few days I called to see what was going on with my computer and he told me he thought it was a memory issue. He told me he would mess with it, and let me know. A week went by, and I heard nothing, so I called again, he told me once again, they were messing with it, hadn't found the problem yet and they would call me. After 3 weeks, I went to the shop to see what the problem was. When I got there, I saw all the computers being worked on, but did not see mine. I asked him where it was, and he looked around, he acted like he had no idea what mine looked like. I told him the description. He kept looking and turned to me, and said,"If we can't find it we will replace you with another computer." I was like,"I don't want another computer. I want my computer. All my work files are on there. All my daughters pictures from the day she was born until now is on there, and other personal things. You better find mine!" He finally did find mine, and I went on telling him that in my line of work, it's been really terrible not having a computer, and having to rent one, so I am losing money from all this time he is taking, and I can not deal with this. Obviously he never did anything with my computer like he'd told me or else he would have known which computer was mine without searching around like he had no clue. He promised me he would put my computer on top priority. That they had worked on it and it was another motherboard issue. Now I found this kind of strange. I had that computer for a couple years, and never had an issue until that one time. I paid him to replace it, and he said he ordered and replaced it, so for within a couple months for a motherboard issue to once again happen after he was suppose to put a brand new one in, I find that kind of hard to believe. I reminded him of this and the warranty guarantee. He agreed and said it would be replaced. A couple days later, I called to see if he ordered the warranty and where he was at on this issue. I talked to another associate who began to tell me that they were trying to replace it with another motherboard from another computer in the store because a motherboard from a computer like mine would be "too expensive to order". I'm thinking to myself,"I already paid for the danm thing when I ordered it before, and this was suppose to be on warranty, so if I had infact received a new motherboard, like I was promised when this issue first happened, and it was under warranty, why would it cost anything for the motherboard?" I guess this guy wasn't suppose to talk to me and tell me this and didn't know that I had paid for that part before and so on. I didn't hear anything for a week, so I called, left a message and told him I was contacting my family attorney. I got a call back in which this guy told me it wasn't that the part was too expensive but that my computer was cancelled and they did not make these parts for this Compaq Presario anymore. He told me that they needed to use an old motherboard from another computer, and that they'd need to use a new casing for my computer, because the motherboard they had would not fit in the Presario casing I had, but that it would all be my parts and pieces and harddrive and everything else, the only thing different would be the casing and the motherboard. I agreed to him doing this because I thought it would be a fairly new motherboard, and that everything else would be all my computer. A week later, they said my computer was ready to be picked up. I had to have my sister pick it up because my daughter was very sick, and I could not leave her or take her out anywhere. When my sister came in with my computer, it was some old looking computer, very dirty and looked like it was some old school casing from the 1980's. I could not believe my eyes. I went and plugged the computer in to see exactly what they had done. The computer wouldn't even work at all. I called them back freaking out, and after a couple days of freaking out and calling the police, etc..One of the guys who work there came to my home and tried to get the computer to work. It wouldn't so he took it and said he'd work on it that night and have it ready for me the next morni

Ok, heres the deal, I got a Compaq IPAQ with windows 200 on it, it runs fine, but heres the problem it had no cd drive in it so I attached an external one with a usb, it recognises it fine when the computer is up and running but I want to edit the bios to boot from the external cd drive but when I go into the bios there is only two boot devices, you cant change them you can only change if one comes first or second... My Compaq Evo Desktop Computer wont boot up from my other hard drive, How Come? I have a maxtor 160 gig. and it works on my other cpu but when i exchange it with the regular Hard drive (40 gig.) in the compaq, The CPU will not boot up. What should be the first step I take in fixing up an old desktop computer? I have a hobby for fixing up old things and making them look/work like new. I have a Compaq Presario desktop computer 5 years old.? Just this year it started cheating at Solataire. I play the Window XP easy version frequently and used to win 99% of the time because you don't need a brain with the easy. LOL Anyway, this year when I get close to winning it will deal me two hands at once to mess me up. Doe's anyone out there own a Compaq model SR5313 desktop computer.I am looking at buying one? I am looking for comments and feedback on this particular desk top

compaq desktop computers? my brother is willing to sell me his compaq desktop computer its only had one problem and that was with vista but he fixed it and put xp on he wants to sell it to me for 500 and it come with a 19 inch wide screen monitor and a logitech sound system(really good one) i was just wondering how good compaq is

How can i ship my desktop computer from california to w virginia? Can i just put a LOT stamps on it and call ups to pick it up??? of so about how many stamps?..its a compaq desktop with flat screen. IF i can not do that about how much will it be to pack and ship to virignia?

Which is better: HP or Compaq computer desktops? I've heard from someone that HP computers tend to have more problems than Compaq computers even though they're both from Hewlett Packard and cost around the same price. Is this true? Could I get some opinions?
