What amount should I price items for at a Garage Sale? (Furniture, Clothing, Old Computer, Toys, etc)?

  1. be resonable, theres nothing worse than peoples junk and they want near new prices, if you are going to throw it if you dont sell it be cheap and you will sell a lot more, if the furniture is in really good condition put a decent price on it but if not dont, clothes have to be cheap, no one wants to pay top dollar for out dated used clothes
  2. Really cheap. Toys & clothes for $1 to $5, depending on size and condition. Furniture, that really depends on how much you bought, what shape they're in, and how much you think you can get for them. Usually people will try to bargain the price down, so do price slightly higher than the price you want to sell it for. You're not trying to make profit, you're trying to get rid of stuff and get a little bit of cash for it. Keep that in mind.
  3. Depends on what it is, how fast you want it to go, how much you want to get rid of it, and what condition it's in.. Generally no more than 30% of retail. Less for clothes. Also it depends on if its something anyone could want or use (like a dresser or set of bookcases) which could be higher. Another strategy is to price higher the first day (Friday)and everything that's still left over can sell for half price on Sunday.
  4. Ask yourself how much you would pay for used stuff... and remember, a yard or garage sale isn't going to get you rich. What do you want to do? Sell it or keep it? So price it to sell it and keep in mind that it's normal for people to haggle over prices at a garage sale so always add a dollar or 2 to the price you want and think will sell. It's simple: though many of the things you sell may have memories attached to them, they are merchandise if you're selling them... so price to sell!
  5. As a rule don't go above 30% of new, unless the item is unique or of exceptional quality. Keep in mind, you want to get rid of it, so price to sell.
