  1. UMM yea, just the gateway 24inch lcd will run you around 450-500 What Dual Core model is it? and you might want more RAM depending on your OS and the applications that you use and the Hard Drive is good
  2. Depends on the CPU. If it is a Dual core then go for it!!
  3. It's fine for 899 dollars, but i suggest that you get a smaller monitor, 2 gigs of RAM and 500 gigs of hard drive.
  4. I'd get a 24" LCD after reviewing it on-line for quality, but the rest of that PC can be purchased and put together by yourself for less money. The advantages are numerous! You'll have SEPARATE WARRANTIES for each device instead of a 'one year' warranty on everything. This means that when something breaks, you don't have to send in the whole computer for repair. Additionally, some very important components, such as the CPU and HDD, will come with a three to five year warranty if purchased separately. It probably uses the 'built-in' graphics on the motherboard (to save THEM money) which would perform TERRIBLY. And even if they supply a graphics card, it's probably a cheap one such as those that claim to have 256MB of RAM when in fact it's got 128MB on-board and uses your system RAM for the rest (this is getting around as a cheap solution and, IMO, a bit of a goof on the buyer). The built-in sound, which they'll no doubt expect you to use, will depend on the sound chip; it's ok to use but you should decide in the first place which sound system is right for you by buying the motherboard yourself. Buying your own case is ESSENTIAL! There are some awesome cases out there with fancy lights, glassed sides, CONVENIENT button locations and even built-in air filters so your PC will not be as affected by dust, which will kill your fans! And even some of the separately sold cases that come WITH a power supply, don't have a GOOD power supply. It's better to read some reviews and get exactly what you want. The speakers they'll supply will be just as crappy as the headphones that come with portable MP3 players. You'll want some good 5.1 speakers for as little as $80. Finally, although it will say it comes with XP or Vista, it's actually coming with a 'emergency rescue' disc that contains an 'image' of XP with a slew of extra commercial junk, such as a trial version of Snorton anti-virus, or a demo of this or that. You want to get a real copy of XP, not some commercial hybrid, because someday you WILL need to reinstall Windows, maybe a year from now, and all those extra applications will have to be updated, un-installed, etc. because they're all outdated, but the recovery disc will force them back on your system. Where're you going to buy the components for this new toy is a better question. The answer? Newegg.com, of course!
