right now there is this desktop computer i really like (around $900 at an online store and my budget is tight) but i don't know if i should wait for the thanksgiving sale. is it worth waiting for it? did you buy your computer at a store or online? did the sale give you a lot of discount?

- The majority of my computers are curbside donations, or were at garage sales, or were tossed out by frustrated and ignorant users. Some are as fast as 1.667Ghz. Most had virus infections. All got a free install of http://pclinuxos.com and now run up to 50X faster than they ran in a tweaked and optimized Microsoft environment. My only 64 bit computer is a 1993 DEC Alpha running Linux. It competes in speed with the first AMD 64bit systems. Trouble is, the public are purchasing 64 bit supercomputers and running 32 bit Microsoft! There are FREE 64bit Operating Systems, with thousands of full 64 bit applications, that actually make those new systems scream at high speed! Your one year old system is probably a supercomputer, but, you aren't running the high octane it demands! http://ubuntu.org has the FREE distros for both 32 and 64 bit systems! Complete with thousands of applications, games, programs... On 32bit systems, I like http://Kubuntu.com and admire http://pclinuxos.com for their ease of use and huge libraries.
