Will late vista adopters have a discount or rebate towards windows 7?
Just finished my computer today with Vista Ultimate 64. Of course I payed a good 180 for just an oem disk. Do you think late adopters will have any type of discount towards 7?

- Nope
- Most likely not... Microsoft are Money hungry WhXXXX and will suck you dry...
- starting this july 1st, participating OEM computer manufacturer are going to have that if you buy a new computer between july 1st and January 31st 2010. You can get a a free upgrade to windows 7 of its edition equivalent (windows vista business to windows 7 business, window vista ultimate to windows 7 ultimate) This offer does not effect vista starter and I do not know about home basic. This offer is sponsored by Microsoft, although some manufacturers or retails may have their own plans.
- There's expected to be a free upgrade to Windows 7 for most of those who purchase a computer with Vista Home Premium or above after June 26, 2009. Current Vista owners, "late adopters" and otherwise, would likely be looking at standard upgrade pricing for the new OS. That should be better than buying utterly new and from scratch, but there shouldn't be a difference between buying Vista today or having bought it a year ago. So yes, you should likely have an upgrade discount, but it's regardless of being a late adopter, and you wouldn't qualify for the free upgrade system that's expected to kick into gear in a couple months.
