i have an ibm laptop,running windows 2000 professional. is it possible to install windows vista program?

have an ibm laptop, running windows 2000 professional. is it possible to install windows vista onto ibm(older computer) . i don't know what to ask, or say, just want to know if i should purchase vista software and install and everything will run properly.

1. um xp is better than vista dont get vista and u can download xp onto it cuz 2000 and xp are about same year model.
2. What are the hardware specs for the comp ( ram, processor)? You could probably do it but it is not worth it. Vista has too many bugs and is slow. Just put on xp instead. It is cheaper and runs much smoother.
3. vista need 2gb of ram to run properly.. which i doubt that laptop has or doubt it could be upgraded to.. you would be better off upgrading to XP.. or try out some of the different linux operating systems would work good on you older laptop.. linux is also free so the the price is right if you wanter to try it out. good luck
