How do I get my internet onto my IBM Laptop?

I recently purchased an IBM thinkpad laptop, with windows XP. And I would like to hook it up to the internet. We have a home computer with broadband, how do i get the internet onto my laptop?

1. Wireless router and if the laptop does not have built in wireless then you would need a wireless card for it. Without a model number or your laptop/modem setup cannot say for sure exactly what you need.
