How does Apple know if I already bought a computer with a student discount?

I recently bought a 15 inch macbook pro with a student discount, but now I want to sell it and get a 13 inch macbook pro. I was told I could only buy one laptop per school year, but wonder if I just go to another apple store and use a different credit card and address, is there any way they will know? How do they know? Do they record my address or credit card number or school affiliation?

1. Probably your name, address, and school affiliation. You might be able to use a different address and credit card, but if you're attending the same school under the same name you used for your other discount, you probably won't get it this time around.
