what are some good computer repair forums?

i have messed up windows trying to reinstall it i downloaded it off a torrent site which is probably the problem.. When Windows XP tries to load, I get the following message: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this..then theres options like safe mode nomatter what i select it just retarts and goes back to this screen i do not have a windows disk either

1. Trusting the torrent sites too much is definitely a mistake... ;) I am sorry to hear about your problem. Here are some suggestions from my side: 1. As you were trying to re-install the OS, there must be an earlier version of XP already running.... what you did with it? did you remove it? If not then it must have become dual boot system, you just select the older system and try logging in. From here once you log in try to remove the installed directory, and fix the MBR. 2. Use a bootable OS like Ubuntu, and create a Windows XP disk. Use this disk to reinstall windows XP on your system. You need to have to CD-drives for this purpose... :) 3. Also look for the following book: Upgrading and Repairing Microsoft Windows, By Scott Mueller, Brian Knittel
