Desktop Computer Packages

Problem devices in my Tiny computer! I don't even know what question to ask!I know nothing about computers.

I'm just about to give up, I have spent all week in computer forums. My brother gave me his old computer and I used it to play my Sims 2 game on. I am living overseas and frequent power cuts killed the computer. I used the reload/backup CD from Tiny and reinstalled the Sims 2, but got an error message saying there was no Direct X 9.0c compatible software. I looked into the Device manager and have yellow question marks next to USB, Video Controller and Video Cont. (VGA compat.) For Video Controller (VGA) it says Drivers are not installed (CODE 28). I have a drivers CD with the computer with several NVDIA drivers on and have tried installing them, but it still says there are no drivers and I have no idea what video Card this computer has! It must have all the hardware and softeware it needs soemwhere because it worked before. If you have THE SOLUTION please help me. Tiny went into liquidation and I don't need to be told to call a technician. That computer is not on the internet. MC, it's around 7 years old, I think. How do I find out the model. It just says Tiny Computers, AMD Athlon (tm) processor, 1.33GHz, 1.00GB RAM. I know it's ancient, but I only need to play this damn game on.

  1. You have tried restarting the computer after installing the NVIDIA driver right?
  2. the only thing I can sugest that I am sure you are aware is to take it to a local computer outlet that repair these things
  3. Direct X 9.0c is a software that must be installed into almost all of the games. Download it from this site: www.softwarepatch.com/windows/directx.html - 11k
  4. First thing you need to do is go to "Control Panel" / "Add/Remove Programs" and remove all the nvidia stuff you have installed (if its listed) Then restart your computer Follow this link its nvidias site and will automatically try and find the driver you need. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en-us Once you have found the right driver, install it and restart your computer, then try installing Direct X 9.0c Again you will however need to find someway to get it on the Net to follow the link... edit: If you know the model of your PC we may be able to find out which drivers you need, what you could do is run the setups and this extracts all the contents to a folder on C drive which is C:\Nvidia if you open your device manager, right click on the "VGA Controller" and select "Update Driver" then follow the instructions, select Search for the drivers automatically, and check "CD-ROM Driver" with your CD in and also "Specify Location" in the box type "C:\Nvidia" and click next... Good luck ***************************E D I T******************************* Well in that case i would guess at it being either a Geforce 2, GeForce 3 or at a push GeForce 4(released in 2003) try downloading the driver for them from the nvidia website, and give them ago, they can only either work or not work, seen as its not working yet you dont need to worry too much about it. Make sure you uninstall any that don't work. To find out your model, right click my computer and go to properties, that will open "System Properties" under general at the bottom it usually says "Manufactured and Supported by" e.g tiny whatever series
  5. you have to uninstall vga drivers from control panel or go to device manager and uninstall it. and restart. after that find the vga drivers and install it. and restart. it will work properly. if not find the latest directx software and install it. it will work. other wise you need to download latest video drivers which is belongs to your video card. good luck.
  6. yellow question marks means that the drivers are not working or compatible with your hardware. use the cd you got with your computer (not the nvidia drivers if you dont have that video card) to install the video and usb drivers. Windows should come with generic video drivers so you could see things on the monitor. If you still want to use the video card drivers, you can download a program called 'siw' and look to see what kind of video card is installed. You can also try putting the windows cd in , and use generic drivers for other hardware, such as the usb. Direct x9.0 can be downloaded from the internet. I remember Tiny computers. A lot of people didn't like them cause they were hard to upgrade, since they were so small.
  7. You might be better just buying a new pc, you can get new ones so cheap these days.
