My computer shuts off by itself?

My computer shuts off by itself, i dont know why, but i first thought that my ram was the problem. So i sent that in then just got it back yesterday and plugged it back in. My pc started working and probably 20 minutes or so after, it just shut off. I thought i had resolved the problem but i guess that i didnt. I dont know if its a hardware or a software problem. I was reading some forums and a few people had similar problems, some people say that it could be the processor but i dont know how to pinpoint what the problem is. i tried running it on safe mode but it still shuts off, juss not as soon as if it werent on safe mode. i believe that i noticed the problem when i downloaded a torrent. then it started giving me problems. i hope that if i reformat this everything will be normal. sometimes it shuts off like 4 seconds after i turn it on. alright, i just uninstalled the program which kinda started the problem. i uninstalled other spyware programs like limewire, and other bs stuff that i thought affected my pc. My cpu fan is runnin ryte now, its at 3200rpms and my cpu temp. is like 44C around 112F im not sure if thats bad or good. but if its bad please let me know i have to get some thermal compound lol.

  1. This could be dust in the fan. Open it up and clean the fan.
  2. You might want to look for a pattern. is it shutting down after you open a certain program? If so it could be a corrupted download or a malicious code. uninstall the program, or at least scan it with various AVs and Antispywares. Maybe your power connection has a problem. Check/replace your power lead. all i can think of right now. good luck Shame
  3. Make damn sure the heatsink and fan are on properly, otherwise your processor might bite the dust....
  4. clean your computer out physical & mental
  5. 112F is a reasonably cool processor. What I would try is downloading ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/ and making a boot CD. use the boot CD to start the computer, if it happens while booting to the CD you have a hardware problem. If it does not, then it's a software problem. The boot CD will also have some utilities to check memory, and may be able to test your hard drive.
