is there some sort of program that will check my hardware?
I'm having problems with my computer, the explorer.exe constantly crashes, I manually open it through Task Manager (New Task...) but it just crashes within seconds. I'm online, and I can use Internet explorer, but IE7 doesn't let you navigate through your hard drive like IE6 did. I reformated my computer a couple of days ago because of this same problem but now it's come back. I've been reading forums and I've tried everything. it's not a virus or spyware, I'm thinking it might have to do somethin with the motherboard. my question is, is there some sort of program that finds out if there's errors within the computer? (note: I don't mean programs like reg editors or system mechanic, I mean for the hardware)

- My computer-View System Info-Hardware-Device Manager- If there are any Red x's then the Hardware has a conflict with something.
- There is. We use it at The GeekSquad. WesternDigital has a HD tester. But I can't really tell you anything other than that due to work contracts. Check it into your local GeekSquad for a diag. We run a full hardware test and full software test. Mother bored, power supply, the whole bit. Good luck. -GeekSquad Agent Jerf-
- Hard drive inspector, i got it from GAOTD but i think you can download it from another site.,
- I don't have any clue about "hardware diagnostic" software. But i ever got the same problem as you do couples of time. And in my situation mostly the cause is "memory". So just try to change it and see if that works. PS. I use "knoppix live cd" to check if any hardware failure. But it is not "hardware diagnostic" software. It is Linux bootable cd. And it gives hardware information when boot for the first time. Kinda complicated, i'm not reccomend though.
