Have any computer packages (i.e. laptops/desktops) been released yet with Windows 7 preinstalled?
Or is it just the Win7 upgrade that has been released so far? I'm wondering because my parents have a Windows XP computer that is so old it has become a bogged-down piece of crap. (30gb storage capacity...that's how old it is) I want to buy them a new computer for Christmas, and currently I have my eye on a Logitech laptop that runs XP with service pack 3. Now that Windows 7 has been released, I'm wondering whether it would be a better idea to buy one that has Win7 instead, since it's reputed so far to be a much better OS than Vista. So overall I have two questions: 1) Are there any computers with Win7 preinstalled yet, and 2) Is it a better idea to buy a computer that runs XP or Win7?

- There is some computers with Win 7 now but I will suggest you to wait on that because is new and sometimes it comes with issues. Window vista requires a lot of RAM to work ...if not works to slow. You can get a brand new PC with windows Vista and then when Win 7 get cheaper you can upgrade to it. The difference between Vista and Win 7 is not that much. But make sure you buy a computer with 2gb of memory or more so Vista work faster. XP is faster in any computer because it doesn't require that much memory in your pc or laptop. Walmart has a whole package for 500.00 with vista and that thing works fast. Make sure you have the max memory you can have.
- It's better to buy 7 - XP still has bugs, and they'll never be fixed (the bug fix cycle is over and all that will be released from now on are updates for really bad security problems.) It's also better to buy a Vista-class computer, either with 7 in it or get the free upgrade. Computers tend to be what's needed for the OS, and I'm afraid that we're going to start seeing computers coming out with 1GB of RAM and slower CPUs again. If you want to take the chance, wait until Black Thursday. Otherwise, get something in a 2.3GHz dual core (or better) CPU with at least 4GB of RAM (upgradable to more) and 64 bit Vista Home Premium now and upgrade it to 7 later (when you get the upgrade). Gateway seems to have some pretty good choices, and they're building quality these days. (That Logitech sounds like a netbook - great for doing email at a wifi hotspot, but not a real computer. [I didn't know that Logitech made computers.])
