Cheap Pc Controller for halo 2?

I bought a cheap pc controller from walmart to try to see if it works for my laptop for Halo 2. But when i play with the controller, all the the button is preset and i cannot customize it myself. Also when i use the right stick to look up, down right left, the axis are rotated. so when i push up i look right. push down i look left. push left i look up. push right to look down. how can i rotate the axis?

1. just go buy an xbox 360 wired controller for $40. search on microsoft for the drivers and ur all set! it works like a charm.
