  1. http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=38&name=Video-Cards-Video-Devices
  2. check on craigslist or www.newegg.com
  3. I'll assume you have a good but not great PC from a large manufacturer. If you purchased this within the last two years you can get this video card most likely, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130531&cm_re=evga_gt_240-_-14-130-531-_-Product If you don't go with that at least make sure that the card you purchase does not require a 6 or 8-pin PCI-E connector as your computer most likely doesn't have any. One idea that I would try if I didn't know what my system could hold would be to call the manufacturer and tell them I would like to upgrade and ask them what they have available for that pc. Once they tell you the options that they want to sell you go on Newegg.com and price compare. If you want to go with a cheaper card you can try the GT 220s and higher, but with Fallout 3 being such a demanding game the GT 240 with GDDR5 memory would create a much better gaming experience. When you do get a card make sure and keep the anti-aliasing(AA) at only 2x, more would overtax your system and you'd end up with unplayable framerates. Also setting the resolution to 1280x720 or lower should help. If it is still choppy try lowering other graphics settings until it looks smooth. I thought I would update my answer as there is some other misleading answers on here. A HD 4850 is a much more powerful card than a GT 240, this is true. However, it is very unlikely you have a power supply with the proper PCI-E connectors and enough power to run a HD 4850. The HD 4670 is a good card. Until the GT 220s and 240s canme out it was the best card you could buy that didn't require PCI-E connectors. Now though, the GT 240 outperforms the HD 4670 by about 20%. The 40nm manufacturing process of the GT 240 allows for higher clock speeds and it also has the latest memory interface, GDDR5.
  4. Beware if you are planning on searching craigslist for a video card, you can't always trust the ads within that web site. www.tigerdirect.com is a good site, but www.newegg.com is also good... you may want to check both as Tiger Direct has awesome sales, and New Egg probably does too.
  5. DO NOT GET THE GT240. You will waste a lot of money. Get an HD4850 for that price range, it will utterly annihilate the GT240. For cheap, go with the HD4670, it's about $50 and will work great for resolutions up to 1680x1050.
