- go to sites such as eBay and just purchase a complete and working bog standard pc - this way you know it all works you can take it apart learn how it works, tweak it, upgrade it etc all for peanuts, plus if you search local to you most sellers will prefer cash on collection rather than posting
- I cant help you with components because im in australia but if you need any advice building it email me on buildapc97@yahoo.com.au or go to my website at http://www.jdspcbuilds.webs.com and use the forums Hope this helps, JD
- I would recommend an amd cpu for cheapness plus remember to but a compatible mother board I would also recommend a pci-e motherboard because it is more compatible with new and old graphic cards an ati pci-e graphic card would also be the best bang for buck as for ram cheak your what type is compatible with you mothrboard. 512mb for xp or 2gb for vista aswell

- Out of a skip! A few months ago I was on benefits as a single Dad. Money being tight and needing a pc, I went along to the local council recycling centre and had a scrounge around. I was asked what I was doing and I just explained my circumstances and said I needed a pc for home use. Strictly speaking, I don't think they're meant to. I walked away with an old desktop (1ghz), keyboard, mouse, etc. I remember seeing loads of old circuit boards there as well, so I'm assuming there were motherboards, graphics cards, etc. Worth a try perhaps? You might find that all you need after that is an Operating System. Good hunting!
- If you have to go to a shop then the cheap one is "cex" Go to cex.co.uk to find your local shop Good luck
- first buy a book called haynes build your own computer , it will lead you through all the stages slowly and explain what every thing does and how it works then go hunting at a computer fair for reasonable parts
