Is 2 GB enough memory for my new computer?
I found a cheap PC with 2 GB of memory is that enough for an average user who has a lot of music and movie files?

- 2gb is enough, though you might want to upgrade a bit if you have Vista. Keep in mind that Memory is COMPLETELY different from hard drive space, which is the space you should be paying attention to regarding storing data such as music and movies.
- Hmm, It depends. If its running Vista, then no its not enough. If its running XP, then maybe. I would say go and buy and extra 2 gigs of ram.
- yep hun thats lots as long u hava big hard drive as well to store them.
- yes 2gb is fine for the usuage you mention
- Depends on if you play a lot of games and what type of operating system you have. Vista takes up one gb just to run.
- Ram is so cheap it's ridiculous, go buy 2 more gigs.
- Music and files doesn't really have a lot to do with how much memory you have. Memory helps load data and speeds your computer up. If you have a lot of music and movie files you want a large HD. 2GB of memory is pretty standard for speed on computer now adays. You can get up to 4GB but after that unless you have 64bit OS and more custom hardware you won't even use all the memory
- well dude if your just going to hear and watch movies than its more than enough............ (For XP its more than enough for all kind of application) but the main point is your processor and mother board.......if your RAM is DDR2 then you'll be satisfied with XP but for Vista its not enough
- Your memory (RAM) is waaaaay different than your hard drive. They both use bytes. Your memory, what you are describing, affects the performance and speed of your computer. 2 GB is fine if you are web browsing checking email. I would suggest 4 GB if you want to use programs like Photoshop. What you want to look at for storage is around 200 GB (160-250). Go on your iTunes and see how many gigs of music and movies you have, then make an educated decision on how much space you need.
