How much of a discount would I get if I purchased computers in bulk for a company? 10%? 40%?

- You'd need to negotiate [bargain real hard] and I think you could get them to give you up to 40 % discount.
- There is no such discount. You just have to shop around. The smart move is to create a specification of your long term needs. Then try to buy computers that will serve you on the long run. I recommend that you avoid laptops, because of the high incidence of breakage and theft. They cost more and are more expensive to expand and maintain. They don't last as long. Review the full desktop systems at Dell. I would go with Windows XP at this point, and NOT UPGRADE to Windows Vista for about a year. At this point, you have no idea what programs won't work, after you upgrade; so you would want to learn from your other software vendors about that. At this point, I would be looking at Intel Core 2 Duo and 1GB of RAM. Any size hard drive and Windows XP Pro if you intend to have a network server. I did provide a dozen computers for a customer from STAPLES. After using the Dell website to get a specification and price range, I found that Dell couldn't beat Staples. I paid FULL retail price and saved hundreds over the Dell deal. Oh, for gosh sakes. Make sure that you buy the RESTORE disk with each computer. It would be a major hassle if you did not have the proper restore disk with each computer. (Dell makes you buy that as an extra option).
