Compaq desktop - computer won't turn on - green light on the back rapidly blinking?

I've got a compaq desktop about 3 years old. I moved it from one room to another the other. Now I can't get the computer to turn on (can't get anything). The green light on the back by the powercord is blinking rapidly. In the past, I've had this problem and put a little pressure on the power cord itself and the light turned solid green and worked correctly. Now that quick fix doesn't work (I tried two different powercords) Any ideas of what the problem is and how to fix it ? thanks Curtis

  1. If it won't turn on at all, check to make sure that the powersupply is correctly connected to the motherboard (if your comfortable doing such a thing.) if you have the inclination (and a spare power supply) try hooking the new power supply up. If all else fails, find a friend/family member who knows their stuff and have them look at it, or take it to a professional. A 3 year old compaq isn't going to have serious power needs to a replacement power supply shouldn't break the bank.
  2. Have you tested the monitor, maybe that's it. Try taking it to a friends and see if it works
  3. see whether the plug in point is damaged or not.if not, probably the motherboard has been damaged because you have tried two different power cords.check your computer warranty and get the motherboard replaced.
