Why doesn't my Compaq Desktop Computer turn on?

I have a Compaq Presario SR1130NX. I just had a power outage and now my computer doesn't turn on. The power strip is good. monitor, modem and printer all work well. My tower just wont turn on. no beep, click, fan, nothing. There is a green LED in back that is blinking fast. Thats all the entire computer will do. Do i need new parts? New Computer? Is there a simple reset button somewhere?

  1. i had the same problem and was told i needed a new power supply or a motherboard..so i just bought a new comp
  2. That green light is for a fuse h'm thinking.Replace it and see
  3. Unplug the power strip and let everything shut down for at least two minutes. Then plug it back in and manually turn everything on. Sometimes that works. Sounds like you might need a "Surge Protector" and power strip combination.
  4. sounds like your battery or power supply has died because of the outage.... try another point in the wall somewhere in your house - try turning the power on and off at the wall and see if it comes back online sometimes safety switches can disable the computer from coming back on. Also try removing the power cord - count to 20 and then try plugging it back in and see if that works... if none of that works, try smelling around the power supply or battery, if it smells like burnt toast you might have fried the power supply in your computer unit...
  5. That power surge most likely knocked out your power supply The surge might also have damaged your motherboard as well. If you have warrantly..let them know...if not... Find a computer shop that will give you a free quote on whats wrong with the PC...they'll find the source of the problem and give you the best advice on what to do.... Problems like these are quite hard to pinpoint unless you can self test every component at home on your own...which is not very practical. Hope this helps!
