What version are the USB ports on a Compaq s4300cl desktop computer?

enough asked. i just need to know. are they 1.1, 1.7, 0.8, WHAT ARE THEY?!?

1. Your computer has 2.0 ports. You can easily know this because USB 3.0 has not been released yet, and 2.0 came out in 2001, which your computer was manufactured after.
2. Easiest way to tell is go to Device MGR...Open up to USB (Universal Serial Bus Controller), hit the plus to the left....Look down through the entries...DO YOU SEE THE WORD "Enhanced"? If not, they are probably 1.0 or 1.1...They usually aren't 2.0 or they would be labeled Enhanced. Of course that is only if XP and at least SP1 was installed...if not, update to at least SP1 (wow, you'd be really behind the times bro).....then restart, then go get SP2, then restart and check again for "Enhanced" label on the USB....If already at least SP1, (I'd still update to SP2 myself), then try going to the properties for each item and their hubs and get updated drivers on the driver tabs (make sure you have and allow net access during the process as it needs to check w/ Win/MS Update and elsewhere during the process)...Then check again after a restart for "Enhanced". Trying to actually get a mobo manual link online from HP for any Compaq is a virtual (and very real), NIGHTMARE. But a simple web chat (if you are really nice to them), w/ an Indian tech person from HP (who has access to all the manuals and the tw links to them online...begging works here...offer em a free cow...lol, j/k all), in Bangalore, India on HP.com and asking the right questions will net you a bunch of correct info usually, but may take some time and a lot of very polite patience. (Hey...they didn't outsource the jobs...American Corporations did! So don't blame the 2nd world worker please). Good Luck!
