I have a Compaq Presario SR1215CB desktop computer. Would it help if I upgraded the processor?
I have a P4 and I have added the maximum of ram. I just wanted to get more out of my computer when running multiple programs etc. Is it possible to replace with say a Dual Core processor?

- unless you already have a dual core processor in your PC you're going to have to change the motherboard and not just the processor
- It's a semperon processor, socket A. This isn't capable of being changed with a dual core processor. **You can change the motherboard but this is much more complex than changing the processor most times. You have to completely disassemble the computer to replace the motherboard.
- It is possible to upgrade the processor. What kind of processor you could upgrade to, well, I can't really tell you that because I don't know. That answer you will have to find out by looking that up somewhere on the Internet, or ask someone who already has done it. But upgrading a processor is something that I personally would not mess with, but you can try it and see what happens.
- well you will need to change motherboard because core2duo wont work on your mother board.
- Are you sure you have the right model number? A search of your model revealed the model number you typed was a model manufactured in 2004 with a sempron 3000+. Which is an amd chip not an intel P4. If my search was correct, you have an old socket A platform and its almost not worth trying to upgrade the processor. You should probably look into a new computer if you really want more performance. And while the term "dual core" is very ambiguous, almost anything that uses "dual-core" technology will be better than a single core because single-core cpus tend to "lock up" a lot.
