How can I upgrade my compaq computer?

I have a Compaq Presario desktop computer SR1403WM-B. It has an AMD Sempron 3000+ Processor, 256 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM memory, and 80 GB 7200 RPM Ultra DMA harddrive. I would like to upgrade it to at least a 1 Gig memory. Does anybody know what I need to be able to do this and how?

  1. you can buy memory online or you can go to places like staples ,bestbuy, CompUSA , or even compaq website and purchase the ram you need for your desktop just tell them what kind of computer you have and they'll fix you up. and installation is a snap.
  2. Scan with Crucial's System Scanner Tool to find out what is the maximum amount of RAM your computer can have. It will also show you what type of RAM your computer can take, how many slots you have left, if you have to install RAM in pairs, etc. After getting all that information, you can go buy some RAM. http://www.crucial.com/
  3. Just buy 1 GB of 2x512 PC3200 DDR SDRAM memory and replace your old ram. You might be better to replace the PC all together.
  4. HP - Compaq Presario SR1403WM Desktop/PC. Each memory slot can hold DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot Maximum Memory: 2048MB Standard Memory: 512MB removable Slots: 2 (2 banks of 1) http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Presario%20SR1403WM
  5. You go to this site and they have a free module test and they tell you what you need, just fill the info and them you can buy from them or go to a computer store a get them. It is always recommended that you get the manual from Compaq for your specific model so you know how much that system can be upgrade so you do not buy something that you can use.http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx?ovraw=corsair.com&ovkey=crucial%20memory&ovmtc=advanced&ovadid=29055425512&ovkwid=226838809012&ef_id=1705:1:1c897fd2c93f0c5a05d0422f8401d9e4_29055425512_226838809012:0fmup9bkak8aadtfyjqaaaad:20081207225559
