Why my sound in my Compaq Presario Desktop Computer isn't working?
I have a compaq presario S4120WM computer. we bought it in 2003. just about 2 weeks ago my sound stopped working. I plugged my iPod into my speakers and the speakers work fine. I went on the compaq website and did every single step on how to fix my sound and it still did nothing. I even re-installed the sound driver for it and nothing. i looked inside the computer to see if anything was loose but nothing was i looked around to see if i could find the sound card but i dont even know where it is or what it looks like. if you need any more information feel free to ask and i'll respond. please and thank you :]

- you bought it 6 years ago you know....not exactly "new"
- Out of experience, I would have to say that you need to check your connection into the back of the computer. I have an HP desktop, and when I plug my headphones or speakers in the jack in the front, there is always one angle that cuts off the sound. When your system is on, wiggle the connection around, and see if it says on the screen "a jack has been plugged in". If it does, then you will have to live with that problem. I can't stand it, but I don't have a choice. Let me know if you have any questions or if it works out. Best of luck.
- sounds like the sound scheme is not set to play from the correct device look under audio and sound devices and see if the correct sound scheme is selected
