  1. The reason that memory and other computer components are getting more expensive is because the pound has lost value when compared to other currencies. This means that anything that is imported costs more. You could try http://overclockers.co.uk/ but parts are getting more expensive there too, like everywhere else.
  2. Cheap components to be shipped where? In the USA and Canada - NewEgg and Tiger Direct. http://www.newegg.com http://www.tigerdirect.com In the UK, Aria. http://www.aria.co.uk/ RDRAM/RAMBUS was *always* expensive and won't be getting cheaper because it's an abandoned technology. When it was first introduced, it was new and expensive to produce. But it never caught on as a mainstream memory type. DDR and DDR2 became the standards, that's what all the manufacturers ramped up production for. Supplies of the popular memory types went up, the production costs went down, while RDRAM was still this weird niche product. Anyone with an motherboard that takes RDRAM (like 7-8 year old Dells) is better off tossing it instead of trying to upgrade, because RAM cost exceeds the cost of a new motherboard plus twice as much faster DDR2 or DDR3. It's why DDR2 is no longer half the price of DDR3 like it was this time last year. The major memory manufacturers have switched their production over to DDR3, and DDR2 supplies are slowly drying up.
