- from what i understand e-machines just use older parts. In other words buying a new e-machine is like buying a new computer from a year ago that has never been used. They work just fine though. I lent my mom money to get one for my little bro after his comp broke and he has had it for a couple years now without issue.
- emachines is a bottom-line, "let's see what are the cheapest parts we can find" computers. No quality. Buy an ASUS if you want cheap and some quality (the DVD door design is pretty bad, but that's my only complaint about their new line). The CM5570 (pretty much the same computer as what you're talking about but with a larger drive) is around $400 now. (I don't know which computer you're looking at in WalMart - they don't have that configuration on their website - so I can't give you a direct comparison.)
- i live in a trailer one emachine is hooked up to a router with 100ft of ethernet cable and the main emachine is also connected to the router and internet both emachines are working fine, no problems,i think the emachines are made by gateway.i say buy it. i have had them for about 1yr i like them.
