  1. Failure of backlight. Have a close look at the screen in bright conditions you may just be able to see the icons on the desktop. Needs professional repair I'm afraid
  2. Try switching monitors. If you switched and plugged in another monitor and you still see nothing, that means your video card has died. If you switched and you now have picture, it means your other monitor died. Hope that helps.
  3. The extact same thing happened to me not to long ago. Try taking the battery out, waiting 10 seconds, than putting it back it. After I did that everything was back to normal. If that doesn't work than something probably went wrong with the display and you will need professional help. Hope the battery trick works! =]
  4. Try hooking up an external monitor. If it works, then it's the lcd. If its the lcd, 9 times out of 10 it's the inverter. LCD's have a tiny fluorescent lamp that lights up the screen. The inverter kicks up the voltage and creates AC to drive the lamp. They are usually the culprit. If you are handy and used to working on tight delicate things, you can try replacing it yourself, else bring it to a reputable computer shop. The part costs about $50, if you bring it to a shop, labor should be about $125.
  5. I got a free laptop from this site, I highly recommend it!
