Can you use a home networking system if one computer is IBM and one is a MAC?
I have an IBM (gateway laptop) and my son has an IBM (Dell laptop). The interent and everything is in his room on his computer and we set up a network so that I could access the internet through his computer. Now my son wants a MAC and I don't know if we get one if we can still use our "family" network. Please help!

- I would set up a wireless network. First put a cheap wireless card in each machine (if they don't already have wireless). Get a wireless router, and set it up to use your internet connection (hopefully you use cable internet - it's cheap and fast). Both the mac and the PC will connect to it - and you won't have to run any cabling.
- Should be fine. MACs and PCs can both use TCP/IP
- Yes. Your computers communicate via TCP\IP not Windows, Mac, or even Linux. The issue will be trying to use Mac file formats (and vice-versa) on a windows computer. There are solutions you just have to look, for them.
