Windows xp reinstallation disk work on IBM laptop?
I have a few year old laptop my school gave me that completely died, had to buy a new hard drive... It had Windows XP and I need to install a fresh copy .. I have an XP reinstallattion CD from a home computer.. will this work on my IBM school laptop?

- It depends on if its a full version or not. If its it a restore disk then it wont work, but if its the full version of XP you should be fine. If you have a valid product key sticker then simply find someone who will let you borrow there XP disks and do a reinstall.

- It technically won't work without you making a call to microsoft since your registration key was already used on a previous PC. If it's an OEM license then you're SOL. If it's a retail license then just explain your PC died and you want to install this XP on a new machine.
- No. Call or get online w/ IBM. They will send you a new disk free up to $30. You will need 2 provide your laptop serial #'s, etc. Very simple & fast.
- If you have a recovery disk, it will only work with the computer it came with. If you have a full XP install disk, then you can use it if you have the license code for the Windows XP previously installed on the laptop.
