How do I clean the fans in my IBM laptop?
I have an older IBM Thinkpad (A21m) that recently has been shutting off on it's own without any warning. I'm thinking it's overheating, but am by no means a computer wizard, so I need to know exactly HOW I can clean and/or replace the fans myself? I would like to try to fix it myself before paying someone else to do it for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- look up your model on the net and try to find the maintenance walk throughs. compressed air will clean them but unless you know how to dissassemble a laptop take it to someone who does way cheaper in the long run
- I use canned air....pick it up almost anywhere nowdays. It is just compresses air in a can with a small tube to direct where you point it. Be sure your p.c. is off and unplugged before you do this as sometimes it will become moist for a short time.
- Only way to clean the fan would be to dis assemble the laptop then clean it with compressed air either from a duster can or a compressor. I did this recently to my sisters laptop and it is a pain in the ass.
