What should i do to add more memmory to my "IBM ThinkPad", laptop?

I bought this laptop used, It's an IBM ThinkPad, model : Lenovo T60. it says it has 973MB of free space on it, which is nothing. but the problem is that there is nothing on the computer. What do i do? Is it possible for your physical memmory to delete?

1. Errr... what is the total capacity of the hard drive? If it is a lot more, you might want to reformat the disk and reinstall windows (if you still have to cd). OR you can buy a external hard drive.
