  1. Depends what you want. I like Vista, some people don't, but it is the way of the future and will allow easier transition to Windows 7.
  2. Definetely Vista. I'm using XP SP3 but Vista is much better. It has much better features and flexibility. In Ultimate, you have the Local Group Policy Manager, Local Security Policy, Complete PC Backup, Bitlocker, DreamScene, etc...... to name a few that Home Xp sp3
  3. honestly, the best operating system is a choice and a personal belief. No matter what kind of operating system you get you can download linux source and change to what would kind of be your own operating system anyway. In my experience it is true that most if not almost all Vista bugs have been fixed, though Microsoft tends to trim too close to the hedge sometimes. XP service pack 3 is the third and newest edition of Windows XP, but it is most likely the same as the computer you have -unless it is XP professional or media edition. So, if you want to try the transition, get Vista. If you aren't sure, I would suggest seeing a local computer shop for pros and cons.
